Dimitri Diakopoulos

Biography

Dimitri Diakopoulos is a designer, programmer, and musician. Using code as a tool for artistic power, his work revolves around designing interactive musical and artistic systems. These systems are visible through his work in games, installation pieces, and tools for music performance and production. His artistic work is strongly influenced by recent research in data visualization, human-computer interaction, and user interface design.

He currently resides in the greater LA area and is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Technology at the California Institute of the Arts. A published academic, his research leans toward music information retrieval, interface design, and multimedia signal processing.

Dimitri’s most recent project was developed as part of the 2009 Google Summer of Code, where he authored an application entitled Argos. Argos is a drag-and-drop user interface builder with musical widgets targeted at multi-touch interaction. He has also collaborated in the multi-touch domain with Jordan Hochenbaum and Owen Vallis of FlipMu on a number of applications developed for the Bricktable.
